Adoption fees serve a couple of purposes. They give me some assurance that you will be able to afford care for your pet, and they help the shelter to continue to afford care for the animals still in my care.
The fees for bunnies are low because the girls in each pair of bunnies are not spayed. I hope that spaying is something that you will consider, and it is required if you have a male that is not neutered.
The fees for the rats are average, and lower fees for adopting rats can be discussed in certain circumstances.
