Sponsoring a Bunny

You can help a Bunny or Rattie here at the Harmony House by sponsoring. Your donations will be used for food, great housing, toys and most importantly, health care. Sponsoring is a great way to help a Bunny or Rattie if you can’t adopt, or if you just have a soft spot for the fuzzy babies with special needs:)
Vet bills are very high, so we know that not everyone can sponsor all that it takes to save a bunnies life, so you can give whatever you feel comfortable with, and with the help of many, lots of lives can be spared. Your name will be posted when you donate, or, you can choose to remain anonymous, or donate on behalf of someone else.

Here are the kids that need your help:

Sandy - Sandy is about 5 years old. A little over a year ago he had a near fatal bout with pasturella. Fortunately, he overcame it and has been off medication for almost a year now, but he was left with a head tilt that’s kept him a bit off kilter for the entire year. Recently he stopped using one of his hind legs, possibly a damaged nerve, or possibly the tilt has just kept him off of it, but the result is a significant loss of muscle, and almost a total disregard of the leg. Sandy eats well and continues to be lovable, and a trip to the vet confirmed that he is not in pain. He needs rehabilitation daily that may or may not help him, and in the meantime, he has a cushioned floor that he can move on without sliding, but he will need care for the rest of his life. Sandy has a brother named Monty that he’s been sharing space with since he came here three years ago, so they must stay together. The possibility of these two bunnies being adopted is remote, and open only to an experienced indoor bunny parent.

Bunnicula and Hunny- Knick-Knack is about 3 and a half years old, and has a girlfriend named Hunny who is about the same age. The two of them are cute, cute, cute together, and knickers is especially cute because he’s like a huge baby! Very excited when it’s breakfast time, treat time, dinner time, whatever! This pair has been with us since they were very young, and spent a short amount of time in a foster home, but brought back due to allergies. Knick-Knack is a HEAVY shedder, and will probably be with us forever unless someone who is very good at keeping up with hair comes his way!

Sissy - Sissy is fresh and opinionated but we adore her. She definitely has a mind of her own, so don’t think treats and love will win her over…she’s the “two year old” of bunnies. Sissy has anxiety issues and requires constant medical attention. We’re currently discussing anti anxiety medication for her because she chews on her neck and will continue to damage herself until she’s infected unless we can keep up with her every move. This bunny is a lot of work. She’s already had an infection that spread down her leg and has had to have surgery to remove it. She’s currently healing from that surgery, and has already started injuring herself again, so hopefully we’ll be able to nail the perfect medication soon. In the meantime she’s getting a plate of chopped veggies with antibiotics for desert every night…and the occasional houseplant as you can see here! Adoption for Sissy will probably not be an option, so with assistance with her med bills, we’ll continue to do the very best for her. Any advice offered from anyone else with a rabbit on anti anxiety medication would be tremendously appreciated! Here are some pictures of our Sissy getting caught being bad, and then a picture of her guilty little face!
